About Maundz

Direct from Melbourne's inner northern

suburb of Preston, hails one of Australia's most heralded hip hop wordsmiths.

Andrew Maunders, AKA Maundz has been mastering his craft for a hot minute, and it’s never been more evident than now.

Influenced and obsessed with all facets of hip hop culture from his formative years, Maundz penned his very first full track as a hungry teenager in 2005, which was subsequently pressed on to vinyl and sold out shortly after release. Not expecting or intending this kind of reception, he stepped up to the plate and began working on his first full length release.

2010’s ‘Mr Nobody’ was the debut album from Maundz that hit the shelves via acclaimed Hip Hop label Obese Records.

His sophomore album ‘Zero’, which dropped in 2012 was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, reached number 2 on the iTunes hip hop charts, and debuted on the ARIA charts.

At the time, it was also Obese Records' most ordered album to date.

Pressing a limited run of only a few hundred 2LP vinyl copies of the album, it sold out in under 7 minutes and has now become a must have for local hip hop vinyl collectors, and has fetched prices

online of up to $250.

2015 saw the release of Maundz’s third album titled Nobody’s Business’ which was released via Hilltop Hoods’ indie label Golden Era records.

The LP became his first to debut in the ARIA national Top 40, won best hip hop album at The Age Music Victoria Awards, and was repressed for vinyl collectors due to demand.

All of which garnered radio play from local indie stations to national stalwart Triple J.

Having collaborated with a slew hip hop heavyweights such as Action Bronson, Hilltop Hoods, Remi, Drapht, Seth Sentry, Briggs and many more, the now seasoned veteran has earned his stripes as one of the country’s most gifted MC’s.

After touring so many headline slots around the country over the years, as well as supporting artists such as Hilltop Hoods, Das Efx, Kool Keith, Action Bronson, and The Funkoars and more, Maundz took a step back from releasing music to focus solely on his next venture.

The highly anticipated 4th album titled True North has recently been released via Golden Era/ Universal Music, and is already being touted as Maundzini’s finest work.

With a knack for penning slick vernacular and a humorous yet unique approach to writing, Maundz spits with an effortless conviction that

has left fiends salivating for more.

True North is this way.

Tour announcements to be made shortly.
